25 Dec Chef Secrets: Salt
Salt. It’s a chef’s best friend, but too much of it can easily make it their worst nightmare! Chef Greg (you might recognize him from our Facebook page as the handsome chef in the European red pants) let us in on a little secret.
If you’ve accidentally over-seasoned a soup or stew, add a little bit of water. That will help dilute the salt (or any other seasoning you may have overdone). If you were a little heavy handed on something else like vegetables or a cut of meat, adding something acidic helps cut through that salt. Squeeze a little lemon juice over your veggies or add a little bit of white vinegar to help balance out the saltiness.
And remember, seasoning food is something you should be doing every step of the way!
