Gruen Galleries, originally built as a candy factory in 1874, opened in 1972 and is the largest gallery in River North. With over 25,000 square feet of gallery and event space, the gallery features contemporary American and European artwork and sculpture, as well as African antiquities.  In 1999, Lisa Boron took over the business and incorporated contemporary painting and sculpture into the collection, juxtaposing the old with the new.

In 2006, Lisa bought the building, and over two years, rehabbed and opened the building’s second and third floors, tripling the amount of gallery and event space. Today, Gruen Galleries is also known for its original, loft style space. In addition to hosting weddings, special events and corporate receptions, the gallery has been featured numerous times in movies and on television.
