Vendor Spotlight: Fotio Photo

Vendor Spotlight: Fotio Photo

One of the most fun trends for weddings has to be the photo booth, but with a bulky set up and rather large footprint, they can be a little cumbersome for most events. Enter Fotio, Chicago’s premier Vintage Open Air Photo Booth. We had a chance to sit down with owners Nick and Theresa to learn a little bit more about their business and what they see on the horizon!

Jewell Events Catering: How long have you been in business?
Fotio: We are on our 3rd year now. We started in late 2012 after we made a photo booth for our wedding and everyone loved it!

JEC: In no more than 3 words describe what your company does?
Fotio: Make Your Day

JEC: What is one thing that sets you/your company apart from others?
Fotio: We make everyone feel special and beautiful on the most important days. Guests are always thanking us for how good they look in our black and white pictures.

JEC:Where does your inspiration come from?
Fotio: We love old school film photography and vintage black and white photographs.

JEC: What is one emerging trend for events next year?
Fotio: Getting out of banquet halls and into intimate non-traditional event spaces. There are so many fun venues popping up around Chicago to accommodate this too.

JEC: What is the craziest or most fun event you’ve done (no names, just some details)?
Fotio: Pug Party. There were 100 or so little dogs running around our camera. It was totally crazy and totally fun!

JEC: What is one thing you wish everyone knew about your business?
Fotio: We take the look of our photos very seriously. We spent a full year tweaking our camera to find that perfect Fotio style. We like to think we take the best photo booth pictures around town.

JEC: What is the best piece of advice you can give someone planning an event?
Fotio: Make sure to have fun planning so you know everyone coming to your event will have fun! Ask vendors questions, see how things work ahead of time, and don’t hire someone based on price alone.

JEC: What’s your favorite “hidden gem” restaurant in Chicago ?
Fotio: Edison Park Inn. They have delicious pizza, vintage bowling, and it’s where we got married!

JEC: What is your favorite part about being in the industry?
Fotio: Meeting new and interesting people and discovering the many amazing places around Chicago! We love the constant changing environments and rewarding challenges that come with the work.

JEC: If you were type of food, what would you be and why?
Fotio: Pizza. It’s perfect for sharing and is generally how we celebrate!

Thanks Nick and Theresa for taking the time to talk with us! Can’t wait for our next amazing event with you!
